For more than 40 years, John Becker has been a trusted advisor to businesses, families, and professionals across British Columbia. As a Partner at Peak Law Group LLP, he helps clients make informed decisions in their business ventures, property matters, and estate planning. John serves clients throughout both the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan, combining legal skill with practical business insight.

Business & Corporate Law

John supports entrepreneurs, developers, and family-owned enterprises through all stages of growth—structuring corporations and partnerships, drafting shareholder agreements, and guiding succession and ownership transitions. His MBA and Family Enterprise Advisor (UBC Sauder) designation add depth to his approach, aligning legal solutions with practical business strategy.

Estate & Personal Planning

John helps clients safeguard wealth and plan for the future through wills, trusts, probate, and real estate matters. Trained as a Family Law Mediator and Arbitrator through the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia (CLEBC), he also leads Peak Law Group’s Estate Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Program.
The program provides private, lawyer-led mediation and arbitration services for families and executors seeking to resolve estate and trust disputes efficiently and confidentially—offering a constructive alternative to court proceedings. His goal is to help clients reach balanced, cost-effective outcomes that protect both assets and relationships.

Experience & Professional Background

John holds an LLB from the University of British Columbia and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1983. He is also a graduate of the UBC Certificate in Organizational Coaching program, enhancing his ability to support clients, teams, and family enterprises through transition and leadership development.
Over his career, John has advised on matters ranging from small-business reorganizations to multi-million-dollar corporate acquisitions, and he regularly collaborates with accountants, financial advisors, and family-business consultants to deliver coordinated planning solutions.
He has also presented to professional and community groups on topics including business succession planning, estate administration, and corporate reorganizations.
John is a member of the British Columbia Branch of the Canadian Bar Association (CBA), participating in various business and estate related Sections.

John values the long-term relationships he has built with clients across generations.

Community Involvement

A lifelong advocate for community service, John has served on numerous boards and councils, including the Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Community Services Council, Meadowridge Independent School, and the Pitt Meadows Agricultural Advisory Committee. A former Mayor of Pitt Meadows, he remains committed to fostering local engagement and mentorship within the firm.

Outside the Office

John divides his time between the Lower Mainland and the Okanagan. He enjoys boating, fishing, road trips on his Harley, and  exploring the outdoors with his family.
